Christopher Evan Rock

The service for Chris Rock was held Saturday, April 19th, 2008 at 2pm at Calvary Episcopal Church in Santa Cruz. It was beautiful and the reception full of stories about Chris, told by friends and family who have shared a few moments or several years with Chris. The theme was consistent.....this was a man that truely touched and enriched our lives with his energy, smile, creativity, love and tenacity.

Chris Rock... when you think of him, all you have are good thoughts. He was the greatest person who just wanted to enjoy life. He was funny and always making you laugh and smile. If there were more people like Chris in this world, we would have a lot less problems. Too many good things to say about him. I can see him now banging the drum for football. I miss you dude!

my deepest sympathy for chris family as well as his grieving friends!!
Even though he is gone from among us, god promises that all those in sheol (the grave) will rise again in the last day.
I look forward to seeing him ressurected to life on a paradise earth just as the whole chapter of psalms 37 promises. " the meek ones themself will possess the earth & forever reside apon it"
See it this way as he's resting peacefully but in not only our, but gods memory of a beautiful person chris was!
Chris was in gods book of life so lets be happy knowing that ;)
Let us all pray for one another & never forsake our friends!!

To Chris's mother and family,

May God comfort you during this difficult time and know that we all
will only be apart from Chris for a while because we will see him again in the next journey of our lives. The best part is that Chris is going to greet us with his unforgettable smiLe and say " WELCOME HOME ".

I have known Chris since I was 15 years old. We remained in touch ever
since high school and I am truly grateful to have known someone like
him. All my fond memories with Chris will be cherished.

You will be missed chris!

There's a secret I kept till this day...
Chris and i were secretly seeing eachother at csdf when I was in jr high
We continued as friends thru the years as our paths crossed here & there..

He always made me laugh & always had insight about people, places, things..
I believe that chris has touched many peoples lives therefore part of whom & what we are is a part of chris..
How many hearts & lives did he touch???
The sands of the sea
To the oceans end!!!

I will pray that god helps us all endure this time of sorrow!

Love ya chris!

I would first like to express my utmost condolences to Chris' family and with sincerest sympathies.

Chris Rock is a remarkable individual. I have known him for many years-since the early 1990's. He's funny, charming, & always smiling- He has what we call a perma-smile. He also taught me a beautiful language, ASL. He's my favorite teacher.

I'm surprised that Chris would leave so soon. Its just too bad to lose a friend like Chris.

But now his bicycle has wings-
Or he's simply drifting in a quick Ferrari Enzo as he loved that car.

You will be missed and you will never be forgotten.

I'm still in shock... I'm still having a hard time to believe Chris being taken away at such young age. I felt so bad that I never had a chance to get in touch with him for 22 years. I was so attracted to him the minute I enrolled CSD. I will never forget our special time together for the entire junior year.

Rest in peace, Chris Rock.

Chris' families, please accept my condolences. Although I had known him for several weeks out of his lifetime, I was touched by his sweetness and friendliness. Whoever knew him longer was so fortunate because I knew he would be there for them.

I wish I had the chance to see Chris and to say "Hey there old friend!" and give him a big hug before he headed out.

And to all those faces I haven't seen in ages, please know that I think of each and every of you.

Chris Rock, you were a high-spirited man who not only wanted an everyday adventure but wanted to expand your mind in philosophy, you had no patience for small talk and wanted to have deep conversations with me. That, I appreciate and will never forget. You have showed me how to love and how to extend my wide open arms to other people because of the way you were. You were special, and in your last days you have come to know Jesus. That is not a coincidence but a divine appointment happenstance that interceded for you before your time was up. We will always remember you on earth, and look forward to seeing you again and if I am hit with a big smile and a big hug when my time is up, I'll know that's you.

I am shocked about his death after my old friend Kevin told me on videophone about what happened to him.

During I used to live in Santa Cruz for about 3 years and I had good times with Chris because he is always funny and spirit man. My ex roommates like Nick O'Donnell,Derek,Don Russell and I enjoyed his company like he visited our house and he always made us laughs, which kept us to stay away from boring during straight 1 to 2 weeks heavy rain. We let him to sleep on our couch at the living room during he was homeless for little while until he found a cozy home near boardwalk.

He loved to ride with me in my ex-heavy duty 4x4 Toyota pick up, we drove around deep in the mud then he said James, you are really crazy and time for us to get out of here before cops come and bust our butts.

Chris,I really missed you a lot. I hope that you got another new cozy home at the paradise now.

I wanted to post a comment since I could not make it to the gathering for Chris Rock this year again. I will always remember him by and that he will always be a strong prescence in my life. He will always be remembered as this guy who was always funny, free-spirited, optimistic, and cheerful. I remember him trying to make me laugh a lot while we were together by making goofy facial expressions and his unique brand of ASL. Nobody could beat Chris when it comes to expressing himself! Miss you Chris!
